Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been called to the fire at the ground floor of a restaurant and takeaway on Sangley Road today (October 30) at 11am.
Above the takeaway are flats situated above.
The ground floor has been significantly damage, with a small part of the first floor also damaged.
Three people left the property before firefighters arrived, but there have been no reports of any injuries.
A video recorded shows thick smoking rising in the area as firefighters remain at the scene.
Road closures were in place in the area, including Plassy Road.
These have now been lifted, but some traffic disruption can still be expected while the Brigade remains at the scene.
Earlier, the London Fire Brigade warned that significant disruption can be expected, including for drivers travelling through Catford town centre.
Motorists were advised to find alternative routes.
The fire was eventually under control by 12.12pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
