Joshua Monroe, 19, of Tadema Road, Chelsea, appeared at Isleworth Crown Court today (October 28) to receive his sentence in connection to the death of Omarkafi Sahal in 2024.

Omarkafi was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, but he died two weeks later from the injuries he sustained.
Monroe was arrested on October 2, 2024, and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
This was later amended to a murder charge following Omarkafi’s death.
Monroe was convicted of murder on August 7 after a five-week trial, having previously pled guilty to having an offensive weapon in a public place.
He has been handed a life sentence, with a minimum term of 22 years’ imprisonment.

Det Chf Insp Alison Foxwell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Omarkafi Sahal, who lost his life because of a senseless act of violence. We hope this sentence can provide them some comfort that justice has been served.
“Monroe denied causing Omarkafi’s death, but the evidence was undeniable, and we’re glad that he has faced justice.
“Knife crime will never be tolerated in London and we’ll continue to tackle this issue, alongside our partners and communities.”
