Storyteller Cinema in Sidcup temporarily shut its doors in July, but Bexley Council has announced it is working hard to secure its long-term future.
The council is looking to form a partnership with the team behind Hackney’s Castle Cinema to bring movie magic back to Sidcup.
While plans are still being finalised, the aim is for the revamped café and cinema to mirror the ethos and energy of Castle Cinema.
Councillor Cafer Munur, cabinet member for place shaping, said: “This is brilliant news.
“Finding the right partner for the cinema has been our key concern for this brilliant community facility.
“I feel confident that Castle Cinema will be a great fit for the cinema and for Bexley.
“I look forward to seeing people making their way to Sidcup very soon to catch the latest blockbusters.”
Castle Cinema staff recruitment is now underway and more details regarding an opening date are going to be shared shortly.
The library will continue to remain open as usual during this period.
