Serenity School Eltham has once again been rated Outstanding in every category following its latest Ofsted inspection.
Inspectors visited the independent school on Court Road between June 17 and 19, 2025.
They described it as “well run” with pupils who are “happy to attend” and greeted each day by “friendly, welcoming staff.”
The report praised the way staff “work together to ensure pupils get the right support at the right time.”
Inspectors said this helps pupils achieve well, even if they have previously found education difficult.
“The school expects pupils to behave well and to do their best in lessons” and pupils understand what is expected of them and enjoy the positive reward system.
When pupils need help managing their emotions, this is handled “calmly and quickly so they can get back on with their learning.”
Pastoral care was also highlighted as a major strength.
Pupils learn “important life skills such as how to get on with other people, listen to the point of view of others and resolve any disagreements.”
The report reads: “This supports pupils in becoming resilient and gaining the independence skills that they will need for their future life.”
The curriculum was described as “excellent,” meeting the needs of all pupils.
It gives them a strong foundation in communication, literacy and maths.
In early years, children develop key social and language skills that prepare them well for the next stage of learning.
Reading is a clear priority, with “robust checks on pupils’ reading ability” and targeted phonics sessions to help everyone progress.
Inspectors noted that pupils learn about different cultures and “the importance of tolerating and celebrating these differences.”
Lessons cover democracy, fairness and justice.
Pupils are taught how to stay safe both online and in the community.
Trips and workshops also enrich pupils’ experiences.
Visits include a local observatory, learning about police work on the River Thames and taking part in residential camps and sports events.
Careers education begins early, helping pupils explore future options such as college placements and apprenticeships.
Leadership and management were judged Outstanding.
The proprietor body was praised for its “strong vision” and for ensuring leaders at all levels are supported and challenged.
Safeguarding was found to be effective.
The school meets all independent school standards, including the Equality Act 2010.
