GO Outdoors, a long-standing partner of the Scouts, deepened its commitment to helping young people enjoy the benefits of outdoor adventure by providing the new tents.
The retailer recognised that the cost of quality outdoor equipment can be a barrier for some groups.
By donating tents to the 9th Erith Air Scouts, GO Outdoors has helped to remove this hindrance.
This initiative has opened up new opportunities for young people to enjoy nature safely and comfortably.
The donated tents were distributed to scout groups across the UK, ensuring that as many young people as possible could participate in outdoor activities.
Dwayne Fields, UK Chief Scout, said: “This generous support from GO Outdoors made a real difference to our movement.
“For many young people, camping with Scouts is their first experience of independence and adventure.
“Providing equipment like tents helped remove barriers and made it possible for more young people to benefit from these life-changing opportunities.”
A group lead volunteer from the 9th Erith Air Scouts said: “The 9th Erith Air Scouts are thrilled to have been selected to receive brand new Eurohike Sendero 4 tents through the GO Outdoors and The Scouts tent giveaway initiative.
“Having access to new, reliable tents will make a huge difference to our group.
“It means our young people can enjoy camping adventures in high-quality equipment that will last for years to come.
“By upgrading our tents through this generous scheme, we can keep our running costs and camp fees as low as possible — helping us to continue offering affordable Scouting opportunities to all young people in our community.
“Camping is one of the highlights of the Scouting experience, where our Scouts learn independence, teamwork, and outdoor skills.
“Thanks to this support, more of our young people will be able to experience the excitement of nights under canvas, making lasting memories and building confidence in the outdoors.
“We’d like to thank GO Outdoors and The Scouts for their incredible generosity in supporting local groups like ours.”
The initiative underlines GO Outdoors’ dedication to community support and its ongoing partnership with Scouts, which has included collaborative efforts to encourage outdoor learning and exploration.
GO Outdoors said: “This gesture reflects our belief that everyone should have the chance to experience the outdoors and the benefits it brings.
“We are proud to support the Scouts in their mission to equip young people with skills for life, and we hope these tents have gone some way to help make camping more accessible to more young adventurers.”
GO Outdoors and Scouts continue to work together to inspire a love of the outdoors, making it easier for everyone to go camping, learn new skills, explore nature, and build lifelong memories.
