The Epping Forest Community Lottery, launched on August 3, 2024, has raised more than £15,000 for charities and groups across the district in its first year.
A total of 66 organisations have signed up to the scheme, which gives 60p from every £1 ticket to local good causes.

Councillor Louise Mead, chairman of Epping Forest District Council, said: “I was both thrilled and honoured to present these awards to such deserving causes that enrich the lives of people throughout the Epping Forest district.
“The Epping Forest Community Lottery has helped to raise vital funds for local charities and initiatives that make a real difference in our community.”

An additional £3,650 has been distributed through the Epping Forest Central Fund via bonuses and the Community Lottery Grant Fund.
A special celebration event took place on October 6, with Cllr Mead announcing the winners and vice-chairman Cllr Alan Lion hosting a raffle.

A £200 bonus award was given to the top seven organisations selling more than 20 tickets per week.
A separate grant fund offered £300 to groups for specific projects.

Schemes supported include comfort bears for parents who have lost a baby, day trips for young people with disabilities, and crafting sessions for older residents to reduce loneliness.

Tickets cost £1 per week, with a one in 50 chance of winning a prize.
The top prize is £25,000, with additional prizes of £250, £25, or free entries.
Players choose their numbers and select a good cause to support from the list of registered groups.
