The boy was left injured after an incident involving five boys close to a bus stop on Fencepiece Road at around 7.20pm on October 8.
A jogger who happened to be near the area saw what was happening and intervened, before escorting the boy back home.
The teen was then treated at hospital, where his injuries were confirmed to be not life-changing or life-threatening.
No arrests have been made at this time but an investigation is ongoing.
Officers hope to speak to the man who intervened to help with enquiries.
