Lathom Junior School in East Ham, Stoneydown Park Primary School in Walthamstow, Hague Primary School in Bethnal Green, and Mayflower Primary School in Poplar were picked by a Tesco customer to benefit from the supermarket’s £5,000 Golden Grant.
The selections were made by customers at Green Gate Barking Road Express, Leyton Express, London St Katharine Express, and Poplar High Street Express, who participated in a lucky dip for a golden version of Tesco’s blue voting token.

Alison Goodliffe, headteacher at Hague Primary School, said: “We are so grateful to Tesco and their customers for choosing us to receive this generous grant.
“It will make such a difference to our children’s experience at Hague Primary School.”

The Golden Grants event on September 6 saw 107 specially selected Tesco stores award more than £500,000 to local schools.
