Peter Tatham, director of Imagination Movers Ltd, pleaded guilty to not exercising a duty of care regarding the waste dumped in Biggin Hill’s Oaklands Lane.
This is a violation of the Environment Protection Act 1990.
He has been ordered to pay fines and costs amounting to £930.
Councillor Page, executive councillor for public protection and enforcement, said: “We are tackling the menace and danger of fly-tipping and where evidence exists, we will prosecute, including for offences which are designed to ensure that waste is disposed of properly according to the regulations.
“Businesses have very clear duties of care, which were not followed in this example.
“We also strongly encourage anyone disposing of waste to make proper checks of the individual or company they are hiring, which is easily done by visiting the Environment Agency website.”
The latest prosecution serves as a reminder to individuals and businesses about their legal duty in managing their waste.
In May 2024, a large quantity of waste was found in Oaklands Lane, with investigations revealing a Croydon resident paid Mr Tatham £50 to dispose of household waste belonging to their deceased mother.
Though Mr Tatham did initially attend an interview, he failed to provide details of the waste collected or share the requested waste transfer notes.
Bromley council continues its fight against fly-tipping, encouraging residents to report such incidents via the council’s website.
They are routinely investigated, with a view to prosecuting those responsible.
The council has reminded residents to be responsible with their waste disposal and check the Environment Agency’s website for licensed waste carriers.
Residents could face prosecution if they do not make these necessary checks and use an unlicensed waste carrier.
