A casualty on the tracks was reported in the Rainham area at around 6am this morning (October 13).
Officers responded with paramedics, however, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
The line between Faversham and Gillingham is closed as the incident is being dealt with.
Major disruption is expected until 11am.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called at around 6am this morning to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Rainham area.
“Officers responded with paramedics; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
