The Government funding is part of a wider £84 million national package announced on October 10, World Homelessness Day, to help councils prevent homelessness, reduce rough sleeping, and improve outcomes for vulnerable households.
Barnet, Camden, and Haringey are among the London boroughs set to benefit from the additional funding targeted at areas with the greatest homelessness pressures.
Barnet Council will receive £326,363, including £306,406 from the Supporting Children Experiencing Homelessness programme and £19,957 from the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant.
Camden has been allocated £682,637, with £517,070 from the Rough Sleeping Prevention and Recovery Grant, £142,197 from the Supporting Children Experiencing Homelessness programme, and £23,370 from the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant.
Haringey will receive £577,677, with £267,359 from the Rough Sleeping Prevention and Recovery Grant, £276,214 from the Supporting Children Experiencing Homelessness programme, and £34,104 from the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant.
The funding will be used to strengthen services that prevent rough sleeping, expand support for families in temporary accommodation, and enhance treatment and recovery options for those facing substance misuse challenges.
The £84 million uplift includes £69.9 million for the Rough Sleeping Prevention and Recovery Grant, £10.9 million for supporting children experiencing homelessness, £3 million for the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant, and £200,000 for the Voluntary, Community, and Frontline Sector Grant.
London has been allocated £28.4 million through the Rough Sleeping Prevention and Recovery Grant and £7.15 million to support children and families in temporary accommodation, totalling more than £35 million in additional funding.
The funding forms part of an ongoing national effort to address homelessness, with more than £1 billion already invested in homelessness and rough sleeping services for 2025/26.
