Greenwich Council has confirmed that Mascalls Road, near its junction with Charlton Road, will be shut to traffic from October 20 to allow Southern Gas Networks to carry out the upgrade.
The closure is expected to last around 16 days, though the council has issued an 18-month traffic order to cover any delays or additional work.
During the works, no vehicles will be allowed to enter, exit or wait on the affected section of Mascalls Road. Diversion routes will be clearly marked, and access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency services.
The council says the restrictions will only be in force while signs are displayed on site.
