Network Rail will carry out essential upgrade works on routes into London Waterloo between December 27, 2025, and January 4, 2026.
The works will affect services between Queenstown Road and Nine Elms junction, with Queenstown Road station closed throughout the period.
This will also include no trains calling at London Waterloo on December 27 and 28 and trains terminating at Clapham Junction.
Mark Goodall, Wessex route director at Network Rail, said: “We are giving passengers early notice that there will be changes to train services for those travelling to and from central London over the festive period.
“We are advising passengers to plan ahead and use alternative routes into the capital.
“We are sorry for the disruption this closure between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction will cause however these works will provide a more reliable journey for everyone who travels on one of the country’s busiest railways.”
More than 350 engineers will renew track, switches, crossings, and conductor rails, as well as upgrade electric power delivery.
The project includes strengthening the railway’s foundations with new ballast and sleepers, and modifying platforms at Queenstown Road to fit the new track configuration.
No trains will call at London Waterloo on December 27 and 28, with all services terminating at Clapham Junction.
From December 29 to January 4, a reduced timetable will be in operation.
Vauxhall station will be closed from December 27 to 30 and again on January 1.
Trains will call at Vauxhall on New Year’s Eve and from January 2 onwards.
Alternative travel arrangements will be available, with ticket acceptance on other routes.
Passengers are advised to check National Rail Enquiries or the South Western Railway (SWR) website for up-to-date information and detailed journey planning.
