The Prince of Wales in Elephant & Castle on St George’s Road earned the accolade in a national list from Rover.com.
The online pet marketplace’s Public House Officer (PHO), Luke James, and his husky Yoshi, reviewed more than 110 pubs around the UK.
They were judged on a range of factors, including booking systems, pup accessibility, welcoming atmosphere, staff communication, canine facilities, pet safety, and the overall experience for the dog.
Winning the regional best for London was the Prince of Wales in Elephant & Castle.

The ‘excellent’ spot named the best dog-friendly pub in London
Sharing why the Prince of Wales earned the accolade, Rover.com said: “Hiding amongst Elephant and Castle’s taller buildings is The Prince of Wales, a proudly dog-friendly and blissfully quiet, chill spot for you and your dog to unwind.
“The staff are exceptionally friendly towards dogs, offering up treats and bowls.
“There’s also an excellent shaded courtyard with water bowls that you can have filled at the bar.
“They’re what really put this pub over in terms of dog-friendliness, going out of their way to ensure that the PHO’s dog was comfortable and happy”.
It’s not just Rover.com that praised the Prince of Wales pub, with the spot previously earning the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice badge in 2024.
The pub is often well regarded for its food, especially its Sunday roast options, offering guests a choice of beef, chicken, lamb, lamb shank and a vegan nut roast.
On Tripadvisor, one guest of the Prince of Wales said: “Fun atmosphere and good food. Very friendly people.
“The roast beef and the roasted chicken were excellent. A perfect place to go for a traditional Sunday roast dinner”.
