National Fitness Day is an annual campaign by Ukactive that is made to highlight the importance of exercise and physical activity across the UK encouraging people to lead healthy lifestyles.
Happening on Wednesday, September 24, the goal is to beat the over 10 million people across the UK who were encouraged to get active on National Fitness Day last year.
Bexley Council owned leisure centres: Crook Log, Sidcup, and Erith are set to open their doors to everyone as they offer free and discounted activities in an attempt to get everyone involved.
All three venues are offering activities such as fitness challenges, group exercise classes, junior HIIT classes, group gym inductions, and swim fit classes- the activities to explore are endless.
As well as this, well known gym companies such as PureGym, who have 435 gyms nationwide, are offering free passes to members and non-members on the day, to trial the facilities and classes on offer.
Individuals are encouraged to share their photos and messages on the buildup to National Fitness Day with the #FitnessDay sharing a message of how and why they stay active
. The campaign has been running for over a decade, and attempts to bring people together to live a healthier lifestyle with a positive impact.
The involvement of local facilities in this project continues to allow for involvement from everyone.
