The exhibition at Eastbury Manor House reimagined what education would be like for them using creativity to rebuild their self-confidence.
It was based on two pilot programmes called My Place for pupils considered “emotionally non-attenders”, missing 10 or more days a term from the classroom.

The symptom is recognised when a child finds it hard to go to school because of anxiety, stress, feeling overwhelmed or worried about being judged on their schoolwork — rather than being defiant or misbehaving.
The programmes admitted Year 8 pupils referred by their school for a seven-week ‘circuit break’ from the classroom.
The exhibition included artwork by the young people on the programmes, showing how art can serve in education for those who face being excluded from traditional teaching methods.
