The popular display, staged by Welling Round Table for more than 60 years, had been scheduled for Saturday, November 1 at Danson Park, 51 Danson Road.
In their announcement, organisers acknowledged the decision would come as a blow to many families and residents who had been looking forward to the display, which has become a fixture in the borough’s calendar.
They said their priority was now to bring the event back in 2026 in a new format designed to be “even bigger and better.”
They also took the opportunity to thank their supporters, local partners and the community for continuing to back the event, despite the disappointment of this year’s cancellation.
Ticketing platform Skiddle confirmed the fireworks had been “automatically cancelled” and said refunds are being processed.
All ticket holders should receive their money back within 48 hours.
The fireworks night has long been one of the borough’s biggest community events, drawing large crowds to Bexley’s best-known park, which also hosts circuses, funfairs and other celebrations.
In a statement, organisers said: “We are saddened to share that this years Danson Park Fireworks will not be going ahead.
“Despite the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, circumstances mean that we are unable to deliver the event in 2025.
“We know this will be disappointing news for many who were looking forward to joining us.
“Our focus now is on bringing the event back next year in a refreshed format that will be even bigger and better.
“We would like to thank our partners, supporters, and the community for their continued encouragement and understanding.”
