More than 20,000 images were submitted from 30 different countries in a range of categories including Music Moment of the Year, Making Music, and Emerging Photographer of the Year.
The awards were created in 2022 by the world renowned recording studios to fill a gap in recognition for the best rock and pop photography.
They remain the only global music photography awards and this year’s ceremony will take place at the St John’s Wood venue on October 2 with new categories for 2025 including Festivals and Portrait, and a one-off guest category of Club Culture.
Photographer and film maker Anton Corbjin is already slated to collect the annual ICON award. Over the decades he has photographed a who’s who of music and screen stars including Tom Waits, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, Ian Curtis, Clint Eastwood, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Allen Ginsberg, Joni Mitchell, and Robert De Niro
Other artists featured in this year’s entries include Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator, Pulp, The 1975, Fontaines D.C., Central Cee, and Burna Boy.
Forty images from the 2025 nominees will be exhibited on huge screens from September 19-23 at the Now Pop One space at the Outernet next to Charing Cross Road.
Visitors will be able to vote for their favourite photo in the Music Moment of the Year category via Outernet’s interactive screens.
Voting is also open on the MPA website (www.abbeyroadmusicphotographyawards.co.uk) until September 23, giving fans across the globe the chance to participate.
In the open categories, the nominees for Portrait include Lauren Luxenberg (Central Cee), while Kirby Gladstein (Lana Del Rey) is nominated in Music Moment Of The Year, alongside Lauren Krohn (Pulp).
Jordan Curtis Hughes (Matty Healy) and Lewis Evans (Inhaler) are nominated in Making Music and previous MPA winner Greg Noire (Doja Cat) is nominated in Live, alongside Phoebe Fox (The Last Dinner Party).
The Judges Choice category which is chosen by a panel including Scarlet Page, Rankin and Nile Rodgers, the nominees include Elliot Hensford (Doechii), Luis Perez (Tyler the Creator), Michael Drummond (Doja Cat), Phoebe Fox (Robert Smith), Platon (Nile Rodgers), and Pooneh Ghana with two separate nominations for her work with Fontaines D.C.
