Famous for essentially being a chocolate treasure chest bursting with the likes of Galaxy, Maltesers, Snickers, Milky Way, Bounty and more, the popular red tubs have been a Christmas must-have for decades in the UK.
However, it’s been revealed that Celebrations tubs have shrunk in size once more, for the second year in a row, due to “rising manufacturing costs – driven in part by well-documented increases in the cost of cocoa,” according to the company.

The 550g tub has downsized and now weighs 500g, which is thought to be the equivalent of around five fewer chocolates, The Sun reports.
It comes as the confectionery staple is currently being rolled out in supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s for £7 and Asda for £5.24 (rollback price), in the new “adjusted” size, ahead of the festive period.
A Mars Wrigley UK spokesperson told Newsquest: “We know that the cost of living is front and centre for shoppers, particularly during the holidays, which is why we remain focused on providing great, high-quality snacks at the best possible value for money.
“We will always absorb pricing pressures where we can, but rising manufacturing costs – driven in part by well-documented increases in the cost of cocoa – have meant that we’ve had to adjust some of our product sizes.

“It’s not a decision we take lightly, but it ensures families can still enjoy their favourite Celebrations without compromising on quality or taste.”
In 2024, shoppers discovered that the larger 600g tubs of Celebrations had shrunk to 550g, just months before Christmas.
At the time, a Mars Wrigley spokesperson told The Grocer that the larger tubs had been decreased in size, in an attempt to “absorb the rising costs of raw materials and operations”.

They added: “Unfortunately, the growing pressures mean more needs to be done.
“Reducing the size of our products is not a decision we have taken lightly but it is necessary for shoppers to still be able to enjoy their favourite Celebrations treats without compromising on quality or taste.”
The adjustment was said to “reduce the plastic used in the packaging by 17%”, but similar to this year, it also meant fewer chocolates in each Celebrations tub.
