The Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA) celebrate the best of South Asian cuisine across the UK, recognising restaurants and takeaways for excellence in food quality, service, and contribution to their local communities.
Judges look for authenticity of dishes, consistency, innovation, customer experience, and overall impact on the local dining scene.
Saka Maka on Hither Green Lane has been named a finalist in the Regional Restaurant of the Year South London category.
Saka Maka has become a neighbourhood favourite for its vibrant North Indian and street food-inspired cuisine.
The menu features everything from the saffron-infused Zafrani Murgh and rich Fauji Lamb Curry to comforting classics like Chhole Kulche and Daal Bukhara.
Vegetarian options include Matter Paneer, Veg Momo, and the popular Punjabi Samosa Chaat.
For those seeking a lighter bite, the Rang Birangi Chips and Pani Puri are great snacking choices.
Reviewers praise Saka Maka for its authentic flavours and generous portions, with many highlighting the creamy saag, perfectly spiced biryani, and tender soya chaap.
The chilli paneer is noted for its spicy, tangy profile, making it a must-try for fans of bold flavours.
In a statement on their website, they say: “If you are feeling adventurous, our specialities will surely dazzle your salver.
“Our chefs at Saka Maka have always been passionate about ingredients, understanding that the best flavours can only be achieved from the freshest ingredients and spices.
“Therefore, they ensure the fulfilment of your taste buds with the specialties in their field.”
Saka Maka is open every day from 3.30pm to 10pm.
