Police cordoned Linacre Road, near the turn to High Road, at around 11.45am today (September 3).
Officers rushed inside a property on the road and arrested a man on suspicion of common assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
The man, in his 40s, remains in custody.
According to police, there was no one else inside the property and no one was injured.
Around five police cars were pictured on Linacre Road, as more cars were parked near High Road – including Territorial Support Group vehicles.
Ambulances were also called to the scene as a precaution but were not needed in the end.
According to a source, the road began to reopen and police left just before 2pm.

“Officers attended and arrested a man inside an address on suspicion of common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. The man, in his 40s, remains in custody.
“No one else was inside the address and no one was injured.”
