Details of Home Store’s eviction from the site in Market Place have been plastered in the windows of the large shopfront.
The business, which sold all things from pots and pans to makeup and clothing, opened in June last year after former occupant Aklu Plaza was dissolved.
Prior to the lease held by Aklu Plaza, the significant shop space was filled by Debenhams.
Since Home Store’s departure, conversations have swirled on social media about what should take its place.
Nicola Morgan admitted she will always view the space as Debenhams.
She said: “Run it like Debenhams did with all the concessions inside trading together… how would this not work??
“Be something for everyone and for every occasion with good coffee and food too. To me it will always be Debenhams.
“I do think an Ikea would be great too though.”
She was not alone in her suggestion of an Ikea, with Kayleigh Walker and Mandy Peacock in agreeance.
Mandy added: “Or one of those multicentred eateries.
“There is parking. Or move Marks and Spencer there, put a Zara where Marks’ is and open the old Littlewoods up and put an Aldi or Waitrose.
“Could open the old BHS as an designer outlet!!! Or any variation. Invest in Romford, so much housing going up we need to expand.”

Others have proposed the space is more likely to gain attention of prospective businesses if the space is split across floors.
Ian Cooper is looking for something Romford hasn’t already got.
He said: “Split it into three units, do something upstairs like a escape room or something we have not got in Romford – go karts is another idea.”
