Chinese national Chao Xu, 33, has pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court today (August 29) to 24 counts including rape, digital penetration, sexual assaulted, administering a substance with intent and voyeurism.
Xu, of Glaisher Street in Greenwich, is believed to have been committing such offences for “a number of years” and police believe there may be more victim-survivors.
He was first reported to police in June, following a networking event he held at one of his addresses in Greenwich.
One woman became unwell and he offered for her to stay in his flat to recover – but instead raped her multiple times.
Officers discovered that he gave her drugs, causing her to become drowsy.
Xu also had hidden cameras around the flat, including inside an air freshener, his bathrooms, and had hundreds of intimate images and videos of women on his phone which police believe were obtained without consent.
Police are still going through thousands of images and content on his devices.
He was arrested on June 1 on suspicion of digital penetration and was charged on June 3 with 17 counts of sexual assault for one victim-survivor.
On July 23, he was charged with six counts of sexual assaults to six women.
Xu has since been remanded in custody.
Following his conviction, he remains remanded in custody ahead of sentencing at the same court on November 14.
According to the Metropolitan Police, it is believed that Zu moved to the UK and has been living here since 2013.
