The vacancy is for the Grange Hill ward on Chigwell Parish Council and was formally announced on August 18.
An election will only take place if a written request is made by 10 registered electors from the Grange Hill ward.
The request must reach the returning officer at Epping Forest District Council’s Civic Offices by September 8.
A spokesman for Chigwell Parish Council said: “Do you care about Chigwell and want to play a part in shaping its future?
“A vacancy has arisen on Chigwell Parish Council, and we are looking for someone enthusiastic and community-minded to join us.
“Becoming a parish councillor is a great way to represent Chigwell residents and give them a voice, influence decisions that affect our village and its services, work with others to protect and improve local facilities, and get involved in projects that benefit the whole community.”
If 10 electors do not come forward to request an election, the parish council will co-opt a new member after the deadline.
No specific qualifications are required for the role, but candidates must have a genuine interest in Chigwell and be willing to volunteer their time.
