Harry Aikines-Aryeetey is one of the contestants on the popular dance show this year.
The 37-year-old is a former Olympian, multi-gold medal-winning Team GB sprinter, and now a star of the BBC’s rebooted Gladiators series.
Harry, known by his Gladiators name “Nitro” was announced as the first celebrity contestant for the 2025 series.
Harry was born in Carshalton to Ghanaian parents, and his Harry’s athletic journey began at a young age.
At just 17 years old, he made history by becoming the first athlete to win gold medals in both the 100m and 200m at the World Youth Championships in 2005.
This feat earned him the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award and the IAAF Rising Star of the Year accolade.
Harry represented Great Britain in the 2016 Rio Olympics and has secured multiple gold medals in the 4x100m relay at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
He also clinched a bronze in the 100m at the 2014 European Championships.
In 2023, Harry joined the rebooted Gladiators series as “Nitro,” bringing his athletic prowess and charismatic presence to the show.
His character quickly became a fan favourite, known for his explosive energy and impressive 41-inch vertical jump.
Harry’s upcoming appearance on Strictly Come Dancing follows his participation in the 2024 Christmas special, where he showcased his dancing skills alongside professional dancer Nancy Xu.
The celebrity said: “After the Christmas Special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice.
“I’m so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I’m ready to give it all I’ve got.”
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One this autumn, hosted once again by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
The popular dance competition sees celebrities paired with professional dancers as they compete for the coveted Glitterball Trophy, and fans can expect plenty of spectacular routines, drama, and dazzling costumes.
