William Ellis School in Gospel Oak saw 98 Year 11 boys sit exams this summer, and today (August 21), the students received their GCSE results.
The school reported that 72 per cent of boys achieved grades 4 to 9 in both English and maths, while 53 per cent reached grade 5 or above in these core subjects.
A total of 30 per cent of the year group achieved at least three GCSEs at top grades 7 to 9, demonstrating strength across the board.

Students did particularly well in English and maths.
In English, 24 per cent earned the top grades 7 to 9, compared with 12 per cent of boys nationally, while in maths 32 per cent achieved 7 to 9, compared with 18 per cent nationally.
Languages were a real highlight, with 87 per cent of boys taking at least one GCSE, including French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Latin, Bengali, Italian, and Russian.
More than half achieved a grade 5 or higher in a language, and 20 per cent did so in two languages.
A total of 62 per cent of students achieved two or more science GCSEs at grade 4 or above.
Some 43 per cent of boys completed the English Baccalaureate – English language and literature, maths, the sciences, geography or history, and a language – and 32 per cent achieved grade 5 or higher in this suite of subjects.
Music results were strong, with 43 per cent graded 7 to 9, showing breadth of talent across academic and creative subjects.
Julian, who achieved three grade 9s, 4 grade 8s, and 3 grade 7s, said: “I have made some amazing friends and have been fortunate to have had passionate teachers who have helped me succeed.”

These GCSE results prepare the boys for the LaSWAP Sixth Form group, where they will continue to grow academically, personally, and socially.
