The 32-year-old offender pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent but stated that he had acted in “excessive self-defence”.
Hamilton-Brown, previously of Granleigh Road in Leytonstone but now remanded at HMP Belmarsh, will be sentenced in October.
At a brief hearing which he refused to attend on Thursday, August 21, Woolwich Crown Court heard that just one month before the attack Hamilton-Brown had avoided prison for possessing a knife in public.
That sentence related to an incident February 19 he was caught with the knife at The O2.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on March 13 he was sentenced to a community order.
Recorder Samantha Broadfoot KC, dealing with Hamilton-Brown’s most recent offending, said he could face up to six years in prison when he is sentenced in October.
“He’s remanded in custody and that will continue. In any event he’s looking at a likely custodial term,” Recorder Broadfoot said.
