Firefighters were called to the bus on fire on Gubbins Lane in Harold Hill yesterday (August 19) at 6.25pm.
The upper-deck could be seen engulfed by flames and thick black smoke billowing into the air.
Everyone on board had evacuated before firefighters arrived, but the bus driver reportedly had minor injuries.
According to the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, no one required hospital treatment.
Officers are helping the brigade with investigations into the cause of the blaze.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “We were called at 1825 yesterday to reports of a bus fire on Gubbins Lane in Harold Hill. Firefighters attended and discovered the upper-deck of a double-decker bus alight.
“Two crews from Harold Hill and Romford fire stations safely extinguished the fire. All those on board the bus had evacuated the vehicle before firefighters arrived and no one required hospital treatment.”
A Metropolitan Polie spokesperson said: “Police were called at 18:48hrs on Tuesday, 19 August following reports of a fire on a bus travelling from Noak Hill to Hornchurch, Havering.
“Officers joined London Fire Brigade at the scene on Gubbins Lane, Harold Wood where the top deck of a bus was on fire.
“The driver of the bus received minor injuries. All passengers were evacuated safely.
“No arrests have as yet been made.
“Officers are working with LFB to establish the cause of the fire. Investigation is ongoing.”
