Julie Fosh, the High Sheriff of Essex, visited the Civic Offices on July 30 to meet the Epping Forest Community Safety Partnership and hear about community projects across the district.
Councillor Paul Keska, cabinet member for regulatory, technical, and community safety services, said: “The number of projects being undertaken by our Community Safety Partnership is quite remarkable.
“It really shows the wonderful work being done with various partners to support residents, create safer places and bring the community together.
“I’m so pleased that the High Sheriff was able to come along and see what work is being done in the district.
“Thank you to Julie Fosh for visiting.”
During her visit, Ms Fosh presented Waltham Abbey community champion Sue Smith with a surprise High Sheriff award for her contributions.
Ms Smith regularly organises litter picks, hosts community catch-ups at Waltham Abbey Fire Station, and supports events run by the Epping Forest District Council Community Development and Wellbeing team.
Councillor Kaz Rizvi, cabinet member for community, health, and wellbeing, said: “I’m so pleased that community champion Sue Smith has been recognised for her wonderful contributions.”
