Liam McGuicken, 53, who was living in Langtry Walk, South Hampstead, pleaded guilty to carrying out the robbery at Westminster Underground station on April 15.
He approached his victim as she travelled down the escalators alongside her companion, who was also deaf.
McGuicken put his hands on her chest, pinned her against the hand rail and reached into her coat pocket to steal her wallet.
The victim, who is in her 80s, could not hear what he was saying to her and turned her face away in fear.
After taking her wallet McGuicken went back up the escalator and left the station.
He was later arrested at Sutton railway station in relation to a fare evasion issue.
McGuicken sentenced to 16 months in prison at Inner London Crown Court on August 1 having pleaded guilty to robbery.
Detective Inspector Alan Judd said: “McGuicken sickeningly targeted an elderly deaf woman as she was making her way through the station, cowardly choosing to target a vulnerable woman for his own gain.
“I’m very pleased with the result, and I sincerely hope McGuicken takes this opportunity to change.
“His conviction sends a strong message, that robbery will not be tolerated on the railway network.”
