The major chain has been given the green light to convert the former Crust Pizzeria, in Hutton Road and close to the train station, into the new shop.
Before it was run as a pizza restaurant it was previously a Lloyds Bank. The new shop is set to create five full-time jobs and 10 part-time jobs.
The proposals also include changes to the extraction system as well as to the shopfront, with new grey aluminium doors and windows and aluminium signage.
The opening hours proposed are 5am to 11pm each day, which is similar to the adjacent shops Co-op and Tesco that open 6am to 11pm, according to a Brentwood Council officer’s report.

The nearest Greggs, according to Google, is in Brentwood High Street, which is a five-minute drive and 32-minute walk from this new site.
The plans state: “The occupation of the unit by Greggs will bring this currently vacant unit back into active use with a well-established occupier providing certainty to the future of the unit and will provide vitality and viability to the district centre.
“Given the proximity of the station to the site and the early morning activity in the wider area, the Greggs provision will support commuters, visitors and residents in the wider area and ensure that they are sustained for their onward journeys.”
