To mark the first anniversary of the Epping Forest Community Lottery, ticket holders are being given the chance to win two tickets for the white water rafting experience at Lee Valley White Water Centre.
Participants need to enter by Saturday, August 16, for a chance to win.
The lottery, which has been running since August 3, 2024, has been raising funds for charities and initiatives throughout the district.
By entering the lottery, participants will also be supporting local good causes, as at least 60 per cent of every ticket sold goes towards funding community projects across Epping Forest.
Tickets cost £1 each, and winners could win up to £25,000.
Draws take place every Saturday at 8pm, and the lucky winners are informed by email, with the money transferred automatically into their bank account.
Councillor Kaz Rizvi, who is responsible for community health and wellbeing, praised the amount Epping Forest Community Lottery had already achieved.
He said: “The Epping Forest Community Lottery has made a fantastic impact in its first year, helping to raise vital funds for local charities and initiatives that make a real difference in our district.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with a fun and exciting prize, and we encourage everyone to take part—not just for the chance to win, but to support the incredible work happening in our community.”
The Epping Forest Community Lottery central fund has raised £3,000 for local good causes, thanks to the support of weekly ticket buyers.
The top seven organisations that sold the most tickets over the past year have each received an additional £200 to support their community projects.
The remaining £1,500 is now available as part of a grant scheme open to all registered good causes in the lottery.
Participating groups can apply for a £300 grant to help fund a specific project or initiative that benefits their community.
Applications are open until September 17, 2025.
Other good causes can still join, with each cause receiving 50p from every £1 ticket sold, and a further 10p going into a Central Fund.
