Eric Deli, 18, from Stratford, achieved an A in biology and Bs in business and PE, all while training for the European Championships in Italy.
The Norlington School pupil now plans to take a gap year to continue competing, with two more international contests lined up for this autumn.
Eric said: “Balancing training with revision was tough, but I’m pleased.”
Norlington celebrated one in four grades at A–A*, 60 per cent at grade B or above, and 82 per cent at grade C or higher.
Donna Kenyon, head of sixth form, said: “Once again, we are celebrating the incredible success of our students.
“Many are securing their first choices, with a significantly above national average number heading to Russell Group universities.
“We’re immensely proud of all of them.”
Among the top performers was Muhammad Abubakar, 18, from Walthamstow, who achieved As in maths, further maths, physics, and computer science.

Muhammad said: “I’m happy – the As were close to A*s so I’d have loved the clean sweep.”
Gary Nsiah, 18, from Upton Park, earned A*s in chemistry and maths and an A in biology.
He will study pharmacy at King’s College London.
Gary said: “I was nervous about biology but I’m really happy.
“Starting revision early made the run-up less stressful.
“I’m excited and nervous – I’ve spent my whole life in east London so going to King’s will be a big change.”
Another high achiever, Zakariya Val, 18, from Leyton, secured an A in maths, an A in further maths, and an A* in physics.
He will also be attending King’s College London to study maths.
Adam Messous, 17, from Leytonstone, achieved As in maths and chemistry and a B in biology – just one mark off an A – and plans to request a remark.
He will study pharmacology and innovative therapeutics at King’s College London.
Mr Messous said: “I’m really pleased, especially if biology nudges to an A.
“The teachers were amazing and really supportive.”
