Emergency services were called to Three Kings Pond, near to Three Kings Piece, today (August 11) at 9.45am to concerns for the welfare of a man in the water.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information about the man or the circumstances of his death have been shared at this stage.
Enquiries are ongoing to find his next of kin.
At the time of reporting, a crime scene remains in place.
Several police, fire and ambulance service vehicles are at the scene.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 9:45hrs on Monday, 11 August to Three Kings Pond, Mitcham following the concern for welfare of a man in the water.
“Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries remain ongoing to locate his next of kin.
“A scene remains in place.”
