Located within the setting of Grosvenor House Hotel – part of the JW Marriott Group – JW Marriott Steakhouse has been a favourite with many guests over the years.
The steakhouse recently underwent a transformation, closing for a few months earlier this year and opening to the public in late spring.
The transformation gave the steakhouse a brand-new look, featuring wooden-panelling a new lounge area, as well as a new display cabinet to showcase their impressive collection of 500 rare Bourbons – the largest collection outside of Kentucky.

But it’s not just the aesthetic that really plays into the American steakhouse theme, the restaurant also has an extensive steak menu featuring a huge selection of steak cuts, as well an experimental cocktail menu inspired by pivotal moments in American history.
The steak menu takes its inspiration from traditional American steakhouse fare, with steaks from producers around the world, from Creekstone Farm Kansas to Australian Wagyu and UK-reared cattle, along with sides like Mac and Cheese.
But if you’re more of a seafood fan, they also offer a seafood menu, and one of their most popular dishes with diners are their Boston Parker House Rolls to start.

The drinks menu is pretty extensive, with an entire selection of Old Fashioneds as well as a good wine list, with wines ranging from many different regions as well as some vintage offerings.
The cocktails are definitely more on the experimental side, with many using ingredients like rum, whisky and bourbon to play into that strong American theme.
The menu itself was very enticing with a lot of temping options, not just steak, but we were swayed to try some starters before diving into the steak itself.
To begin with we tried the Courgette Soup – one of that day’s specials – as well as the Maryland Crab Cake with Old Bay Tartar Sauce, which was one of my favourite parts of the meal.

For steaks your server will present you with a board of steak offerings and explain the choices, of which there were plenty to choose from.
We settled on a classic American Fillet, which has size options ranging from 6oz to 10oz, and the New York Strip, which had more of a rich flavour compared with the Fillet, which definitely was one of the most tender steaks I’ve had in all my years eating steak.
The menu also has a really broad selection of sauces and butters, along with sides to choose from including three different fries options.
We both tried the Garlic and Thyme butter, which really added to the “melt in the mouth” experience the Fillet was giving, however if I visited again I’d probably go for something with a little more kick

Finally we finished off with some desserts, including the JW Steakhouse standout favourite – the JW Cheesecake – which is designed to share and comes served in a cracker crust.
This cheesecake is a firm favourite amongst the regulars and is one of the most heavily recommended desserts among them all, and after trying it with its satisfying crust and creamy filling I can really see why.

But we also tried the Warm Double Chocolate Brownie with fudge sauce and ice cream, which was equally delicious and one I’d order again.
I think I’d go as far as to say JW Steakhouse may just be my new favourite place to go for an indulgent steak meal in London.
The ambience was relaxed and all the servers really go out of their way to make everyone feel looked after, making it a great place to visit for a special occasion this summer.
