Daniel Santana, 40, was sentenced to three years and seven months in prison after pleading guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour at Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday, July 23.
Between October 2021 and March 2022, Santana subjected the woman to sustained abuse, including physical assaults and harassment.
He once called her up to 60 times in a row.
The victim reported the abuse in January 2025, and Santana, of Croydon, was promptly arrested.
Alongside his sentence, Santana was also handed a 20-year restraining order.
He has also been recalled to prison to serve the remaining nine years of a previous sentence for rape, grievous bodily harm (GBH), actual bodily harm (ABH), arson and harassment.
Detective Constable Marc Taylor said: “This has been a long and complex investigation, and I commend the bravery and resilience of the victim-survivor.
“Her brave actions have made it possible for us to get this dangerous man off the streets.
“There is no doubt that it was difficult for her to speak with police about the abuse she had endured, but her determination resulted in the defendant finally having to take accountability for what his actions.”
The case has prompted a renewed call to raise awareness of Clare’s Law, also known as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS).
The scheme allows people to ask police whether a current or former partner poses a risk to them.
