Rockmount Primary School, based on Chevening Road, received outstanding judgements in every category following a full inspection on June 10 and 11.
Inspectors praised the school’s ambition, strong leadership and nurturing environment where “pupils thrive”.
The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision were all rated outstanding.
While Ofsted no longer gives an overall effectiveness grade, the report makes clear that Rockmount continues to perform at the highest level.
“Staff have high ambitions for pupils’ achievement,” the report said.
“The principles that all pupils can and will achieve underpin the safe and nurturing school environment.”
Behaviour across the school was described as “exemplary”.
Inspectors said children make “thoughtful choices” and show “high levels of self-control”, with pupils and staff treating each other with “high respect”.
“Pupils are extremely polite and courteous,” the report said.
“They have a well-developed perception of fairness” and take pride in resolving issues constructively, referring to themselves as “bridge builders”.
Pupils spoke with confidence and clarity about their school experience, showing a deep sense of pride and belonging.
Personal development was found to be at the heart of the school’s ethos, with opportunities ranging from growing produce and caring for chickens to preparing meals in the learning kitchen.
Children sell their homegrown goods to parents, helping develop enterprise skills and community engagement.
Leadership roles such as peer mediators and well-being ambassadors are common, with pupils taking them on “with immense pride”.
The curriculum was praised as “highly effective” and built around key ideas or “golden threads” that support pupils in developing strong knowledge over time.
Teachers were found to plan lessons that are both logical and engaging, allowing pupils to apply their understanding in meaningful ways.
Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities were found to be “well catered for”, with thoughtful adjustments made to ensure they access the full curriculum.
The early years provision was singled out for its strength.
Children were said to show independence and enjoyment, supported by “expert staff” and carefully planned activities that match their next steps.
Reading is a major focus at Rockmount. The teaching of phonics is consistent and staff have a secure understanding of how to support pupils’ progress.
Children who fall behind are quickly identified and supported.
Pupils enjoy reading books that match the sounds they are learning and can earn “gold tokens” to spend at the school’s book vending machine.
Staff said they feel supported by leaders who are mindful of workload and staff well-being.
Governors were found to provide clear strategic oversight and challenge where needed.
Parents spoke positively about the school’s community spirit and high expectations.
“Pupils achieve exceptionally well,” the report concludes, with inspectors praising Rockmount’s continued focus on character, care and excellence.
