Royal Russell School is developing the purpose-built space with funding support from NatWest.
The purpose-built building will accommodate around 400 pupils and include dedicated Early Years classrooms, a junior school library, and specialist spaces for science, art, and design.
Chris Hutchinson, headmaster at Royal Russell School, said: “We are incredibly excited about our new state-of-the-art junior school building which will enhance the educational opportunities of our younger pupils.
“At Royal Russell School, we are proud to inspire a life of learning at the family school of choice and the new building will help us to continue doing just that.
“We have worked closely with the NatWest team on this project, and they understand what we want to achieve as a school.
“They are very solutions-oriented which helps us achieve our goals.”
The building will also feature a dedicated entrance and outdoor play area for younger pupils.
Royal Russell School currently educates 1,300 pupils aged three to 18 on its 110-acre Croydon campus.
Construction began last year, and the new junior school is scheduled to open in September 2026.
The project is part of a broader push by NatWest to support early years education.
Earlier this year, the bank announced it was increasing its lending target for the early years sector from £100 million to £250 million.
The move is part of NatWest’s involvement in The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood.
Kevin Matthams, relationship director at NatWest, said: “The new junior school building at Royal Russell School will provide a fantastic space for pupils to learn and grow.
“We know that having the right educational environment, particularly during the early years, is essential for children’s development and we were delighted to support Royal Russell School as they move forward with their plans to enhance pupils’ education.”
