Storm Floris is set to arrive tomorrow (August 4) from the west, affecting large parts of Northern England, Wales and Scotland, with amber and yellow weather warnings issued for strong winds.
As a result, National Rail are advising passengers travelling to and from London and parts of Northern Wales, Northern England and Scotland tomorrow that services may be impacted.
Passengers are being warned to “check before travelling” and to plan ahead, with services likely to be altered or cancelled as a result of tomorrow’s weather.
Passengers are being advised to claim compensation if their journeys are delayed tomorrow, with the advice to keep train tickets and record the delay times when claiming any compensation.

- Affects routes between London Euston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh
- Do not travel north of Preston.
- Avanti West Coast are advising customers not to travel north of Preston tomorrow, 4 August, as the Anglo-Scot route is expected to be heavily affected by Storm Floris.
Caledonian Sleeper Services
- Affects routes between London Euston and Aberdeen / Inverness / Fort William / Glasgow Central.
- The advice is for passengers not to travel, as Caledonian Sleeper have had to make the difficult decision to cancel services to the Highlands.
- Services between London Euston and Inverness / Aberdeen / Fort William will be cancelled.
LNER Services
- Affects routes between London’s Kings Cross station and Leeds / York / Newcastle / Edinburgh.
- Do not travel north of Newcastle.
