Known for its stretches of shingle beach and its 155-year-old pier, Eastbourne is one of Sussex’s most popular seaside spots to visit.

But it will soon be even easier to reach this seaside town by train, with the upcoming reinstation of a rail service from London Bridge.
A direct weekday-only rail service between East Sussex and London – which had been suspended during the COVID‑19 pandemic – is set to resume this December.
The reinstated route will link Lewes and Eastbourne with London Bridge, operating once each weekday morning towards London and evening returning south.

Just 20 minutes from Eastbourne station, Eastbourne’s Blue Flag beach is one of its most iconic spots, with its Victorian bandstand and Pier linked with shops.
The Pier is one of Eastbourne’s most recognisable sights, dating back to 1870 when it was first built, with a tearoom, fishing spots, shops and amusements.

The beach is also where popular events like its annual firework display and Eastbourne Air Show are hosted every year.
This town has a long and interesting history, particularly when it emerged to life as a Victorian resort in the mid-19th century, with much of its architecture dating back to that period.

Being on the Sussex Coast, Eastbourne is within a short distance of iconic sights like Beachy Head and The Seven Sisters, which have both appeared in many films and TV shows.
Part of the South Downs National Park, this iconic landmark of the Sussex coastline is popular for its dramatic views and walking trails, making it popular with photographers and walkers.
