The footage was recorded by retired resident Geoff Newton using his Ring Outdoor Camera in West Wickham, Kent.
The “Ben and Jerry chase” style scene shows the badger playfully pursuing the fox across the garden before both animals disappear into the distance.
Geoff, who regularly saw both the fox and the badger separately in his garden, said this was the first time he had spotted them together on camera.
He shared that he ended up watching the unexpected video several times, finding the whole display quite funny.
While not typically known for being the best of friends, wildlife experts note that it’s not unusual for foxes and badgers to share habitats such as gardens or even setts.
According to Wildlife Online, badgers are generally the more dominant species, while foxes tend to be more cautious – perhaps explaining why the fox fled in this encounter.
Thanks to his Ring Home subscription, Geoff was able to save and revisit the footage.

The amusing encounter provides a glimpse into the surprising and playful interactions that can occur in our back gardens.
