The Sound Lounge on Sutton High Street posted the message on Facebook on July 15.
The post said: “It is really hard, and we are giving it our all.
“We were hanging on by a thread even before the new budget came in, to be honest, and now things feel harder than ever.”
The Sound Lounge has become a vital part of the local community – a grassroots music venue that’s not only hosting gigs, but also offering a space where people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences can come together.
Run by couple duo Hannah White and Keiron Marshall, the venue has built a strong following since opening its current home on Sutton High Street in 2020.
The story of The Sound Lounge began long before Sutton, as Keiron, then 22, had opened a small recording studio in Merton Abbey Mills in Colliers Wood.
When it struggled to stay afloat, he and Hannah teamed up and transformed it into something new.
Now, The Sound Lounge said they are feeling the pressure after “a couple of significant hospitality places” have closed on the high street.
However, they said they are determined to keep going for “as long as we are able.”
They said: “We love this place, we love our local town, we love the goodness The Sound Lounge brings and the difference it makes.
“So be sure, we are here with all heart and soul for as long as we are able.”
