Chandos Way and Britten Close Estate in the Garden Suburb ward in Golders Green could see 15 homes added to the 220 home estate.
The planning application, which has been submitted by B & C Crestpearl, states a single-story rooftop extension, built across the nine existing blocks, will house the additional flats.
Beginning in 2018, previous versions of the extension plan were turned down with issues over uniformity and “significant bulk and height” which would be “out of proportion” highlighted.
The “top heavy” design potentially reducing natural light into other homes was another concern.
Now, the developer has said this “revised scheme” has incorporated feedback and “respects the characters of the existing buildings”.
This has been achieved, they said, by providing an additional storey “that compliments the proportionality of the building”.
The new homes will consist of 11 one-bedroom flats and four two-bedroom flats. None of the properties will be allocated as affordable. Eleven new parking spaces, including two blue badge accessible bays, and 26 cycle spaces will also be delivered.
Submitting feedback, a neighbour, Gregory Shewan, said: “What value does the extension bring to existing residents? These also seem to distinctly be aimed at the high end of the market, already saturated in the borough.
“The proposed new dwellings appear to remove the skylight on the existing third floor flats. A disparity in the provision of parking spaces and the amount of flats proposed also exists and will mean additional parking pressures to residents and visitors.
“There’s no provision to extend the waste areas.”
