Abacus Belsize Primary School, part of the Anthem Schools Trust and temporarily based at the Jubilee Waterside Centre in Camley Street, was visited by the education watchdog in June.
Inspectors described it as an inclusive school with a “superb” atmosphere and “warm and nurturing” relationships between staff and pupils.
The report praised the school for fostering a respectful, engaged, and caring environment, stating: “Pupils enjoy coming to this inclusive school”.
The school earned top ‘outstanding’ ratings for its early years provision, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
The school’s quality of education was rated ‘good’.
Inspectors highlighted the school’s “ambitious and well-thought-out curriculum” and noted that pupils demonstrate “exemplary” behaviour throughout the school, including in classrooms and during playtimes.
The report said: “Pupils of all ages play happily together and enjoy a wide range of fun activities.”
Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) were found to have their needs identified quickly, with staff making “thoughtful adaptations” to teaching, enabling these pupils to achieve well.
Personal development was described as “exceptional,” with the school effectively addressing the social and emotional needs of each pupil.
Regular visits to museums, galleries, and places of worship were also recognised as enhancing pupils’ wider development and independence.
Leadership was also singled out for praise, with inspectors noting that school leaders and governors keep the interests of families and pupils “at the centre” of their decisions, and that the trust provides “highly effective” support and challenge.
Melissa Chandler, headteacher at Abacus Belsize Primary School, said: “We are very proud of this excellent report from Ofsted that praises our commitment to giving pupils the opportunities to thrive at our inclusive school.
“We are delighted that Ofsted highlighted our ‘exceptional’ programme of personal development for Abacus pupils and the way that we are preparing them extremely well for life in modern Britain.
“Building on this success, we will continue to champion each child in our care, ensuring they feel valued, supported and inspired to reach their full potential.”
