Tyler Hayward, 26, died at the scene after the knife attack in Chingford Mount Road on Sunday (July 6) at 9.14pm.
His family said that he had a “beautiful soul” with the “kindest of hearts”.
In a statement released to the public, they said: “We are struggling with the tragic loss of Tyler, a beautiful soul with the kindest of hearts.
“A much-loved son, grandson and brother, that will be missed immensely.
“We would appreciate privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with our loss.”
Police have since been carrying out “extensive enquiries”, leading to a search in the Port of Dover, Kent, today (July 8).
A man, 22, has been arrested during the search this evening on suspicion of murder.
Chingford Mount Road was cordoned off up until earlier today when the crime scene was lifted.
