Businesses come and go in every town but it’s always nice to welcome a new firm to the borough.
The Beauty of Aesthetics, Collier Row

The mother and daughter duo offer beauty services, hairdressing, and nail work.
Talking to the Recorder in March, Rebecca said: “We are ecstatic to get the business off the ground and welcome new faces as well as our returning clients.”
On top of their own services, the duo offer aesthetic training to beauticians and have expanded to offer beauty training courses for the likes of nails, waxing, eyelashes and massages.
NH Boom, Romford
The store sells a range of men’s clothes, including shirts, shorts, jeans, and puffer jackets as well as accessories such as hats, and a few children’s and women’s items, like dressing gowns and tracksuits.
Shortly after opening Nazir said: “It’s a big help being at the front [of the shopping hall] – that’s why I’ve been selling things.”
Lumiere Cinema, Romford
The venue replaced Premiere Cinemas, which closed in August 2024, and is run by co-operative charity The Romford Film Trust.
It also hosted the Romford Horror Festival between February 27 and March 27 as a “test run” before the official opening.
King’s Decorators Merchants, Elm Park
From 1966 until January this year, the premises was occupied by Hans Electric, an appliance shop owned that closed earlier this year.
Muhammad Tahjib Uddin, owner of Kings Decorators Merchants, previously told the Recorder he is “well aware” of the impact that Hans Electric had on the community.
He said: “We intend to make a good relationship with the community just like Hans Electric had – as an independent merchant we want to offer personalised service.
