Ingatestone is a village and former civil parish in Essex lying just south of Fryerning.
The two form the parish of Ingatestone and Fryerning in the Borough of Brentwood.
Researchers Area Hive describe Ingatestone as a “charming village that blends the quintessence of English countryside living with convenient access to urban amenities”.
The village has its own train station, which offers direct services to London Liverpool Street.

According to Google Maps, the drive from Romford town centre to Ingatestone would take just under 45 minutes.
Area Hive said: “Ingatestone might be a village, but it’s far from lacking in amenities.”

The researchers recommend a range of local eateries such as Pastasciutta, an Italian restaurant owned by an Italian husband and wife as well as Nirvana, an Indian restaurant that has been running in High Street for 25 years.

By 1560 the property was leased to Thomas Sturgeon, who paid a rent to the owner of one shilling per annum.
The building first appeared in official records in 1641 when it became a pub called The White Horse.
It was used as a butchers with a slaughter house as well as a bakery before being returned as a pub in 1883.
According to its website, there is much speculation on whether The Star Inn is haunted.
Stories have circulated about customers leaving in a hurry after doors opened and closed by themselves, as well as the ghostly apparition of a dog being spotted.

It describes itself as a “lovely 500-year old village pub, originally a coaching inn”.
Being situated in Essex, one of Ingatestone’s “stand-out features” according to the researchers is its surrounding greenery.

They wrote: “The village is nestled in scenic landscapes, offering numerous walking trails and outdoor activities.
“Parks like Fairfield and Seymour Field provide ample green space for leisurely strolls or more vigorous activities.

Area Hive also noted healthcare facilities to be “abundant” with several doctors, pharmacies, and even a veterinary care centre in Ingatestone.
Other amenities include hair salons, a post office, a gym, and a library.
According to RightMove house prices in Ingatestone had an overall average of £764,621 over the last year.
The majority of properties sold in Ingatestone during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £1,140,691.
Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £577,517, with terraced properties fetching £500,000.
