Sorosh Amini, 21, followed his victim before forcing drugs on her, telling her about a recent stabbing and finally sexually assaulting her.

He was sentenced today (June 27) at Croydon Crown Court after being convicted of rape and sexual assault.

The attack in August 2024 happened in broad daylight, with Amini approaching the girl on North End Road in Croydon.

He persistently tried to engage in conversation with her and would not leave her alone, following her down North End Road and into an alleyway.

There, he forcibly kissed her and tried to put a cannabis joint into her mouth. (Image: Met Police)

He told her he was friends with someone who had recently carried out a stabbing in the area, making the victim afraid that he may have a knife. Amini then raped her.

The victim reported the incident to police and received safeguarding and support from specialist officers.

The day after the attack, Amini left his home for Liverpool.

But police tracked him down using phone data and CCTV with an arrest five days later.

Detective Inspector Donnett Oseni, who led the investigation, said: “Amini’s attack on this vulnerable girl was predatory and calculated.

“He has demonstrated himself to be a dangerous sexual offender and this sentence prevents him from harming anyone else.

“I want to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and reporting this offence to us.

“I hope today’s verdict will bring her and her family some semblance of closure.”

Amini was convicted on January 1 following a two-week trial at Croydon Crown Court.

He was also issued with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
