Newham, in partnership with Uber and charge point operator Believ, has now installed 500 on-street electric vehicle charge points, with plans to reach 1,000 by April 2026 and 3,000 by 2030.

Many Newham residents lack private driveways, with Believ saying this makes public charging essential for electric vehicle adoption.

The scheme will also support Uber drivers in the borough, who Believ said are switching to electric vehicles at a faster rate than the general public.
