Police were called just after 5pm yesterday (June 25) to South Street, near The Moon and Stars pub.
Officers arrived and arrested six boys – all aged between 15 and 17 – on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
All suspects remain in police custody.
There were no injuries reported.
An investigation is underway and witnesses have been asked to contact the police.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 17:02hrs on Wednesday, 25 June to reports of a large fight in South Street, Romford.
“Officers attended and six boys, aged between 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. They all remain in police custody.
“No one was injured in the altercation.
“Enquiries continue. Anyone with information or footage is asked to call police on 101 quoting 6332/25JUN.
